Among the main causes are headaches and eye pain, low user comfort, and an excessive sense of loneliness.
The Apple Vision Pro glasses have been available on the American market for over two weeks, and for the giant from Cupertino, this means a rather unexpected cold shower. After the initial enthusiasm associated with the device's premiere, more and more people are deciding to return it within the regulatory fourteen days for a refund.
The scale of this phenomenon is not exactly known, and Apple does not publish any data on this subject, but the fact is that more and more people on social media are sharing their negative feelings about using Vision Pro.
Among the main reasons for dissatisfaction, users mention eye strain and headaches, as well as cases of nausea caused by motion sickness.
– I can't wait to return the Apple Vision Pro, probably the most amazing device I've ever tested. I can't deal with these headaches after 10 minutes of use – wrote on X Rjey Tech, a Canadian tech influencer.
Many people also cite the lack of daily use convenience due to its weight as the main reason for returning the device. Vision Pro weighs over 650 grams, almost as much as a 12.9-inch iPad Pro or three iPhone 15 Pro Max, which can contribute to the aforementioned headaches, as well as neck and shoulder muscle strain.
From Apple's perspective, the most concerning may be comments about the technology of spatial computing itself. According to many, it is still too underdeveloped and struggles with certain operations, e.g. with correctly displaying small text. Voices are also increasingly emerging that it is an extremely isolating experience.
"Using Apple Vision Pro is like putting on headphones. When it's on, you're isolated, immersed, and alone. [...] For now, Apple's vision of naturally incorporating the set into our interactions with the environment is not realized" - wrote June Wan in her Vision Pro review on ZD Net.
Taking into account the above disadvantages, many people are also unable to find justification for the price of the device. Apple Vision Pro currently costs $3,500, but after adding costs related to insurance or additional accessories, this amount can exceed $4,000. And this effectively discourages even the most ardent fans of the company with the bitten apple logo.
