Job market: the most desired skills in 2024
LinkedIn published on its blog a ranking of the most desired skills in the job market in 2024. This list was created based on job advertisements from the period from May to October 2023, as well as desired characteristics of candidates who received a job or employment offer through the platform during this time.
Quite surprisingly, the top ten was almost entirely dominated by soft skills, requiring from employees at least a minimal dose of empathy, openness to cooperation and flexibility. On the other hand, strictly specialized skills such as knowledge of specific programming languages do not appear there.
– I believe that we are entering an era of work that is becoming more human than before and will give us all a chance to achieve greater fulfillment from the tasks performed, as well as ease and efficiency of cooperation with others – convinces Ryan Roslansky, CEO of LinkedIn.
The list published by LinkedIn seems to confirm the above words. Here are the ten most desired skills in the job market in 2024:
Communication
Customer service
Leadership
Project management
Management
Data analytics
Teamwork
Sales
Problem solving
Information search
The most desired skill at the moment: Ability to adapt.
- The ability to adapt is currently the best way to gain agency - adds Aneesh Raman, Vice President of LinkedIn.
- I think that in times of great change, in which we currently live, we all want not only a way to understand them, but also a way to manage them. At the base of this is building adaptive skills - Raman believes.
