Big changes on LinkedIn. End of post carousels and linking in images?
Surprising change for LinkedIn users. According to reports from socialmediatoday.com, as early as December 2023, the platform plans to withdraw the publishing of carousel posts. However, this is not the end of the news, as sharing profile videos and linking in the image will also be unavailable.
Matt Navarra, a social media consultant, announced:
"Starting from December 14, 2023, the process of removing all carousels and profile videos from the LinkedIn service will begin. Previously clickable links placed in images or videos will stop working".
According to Navarra's reports, it is now impossible to place new content in the categories of carousels and profile videos, and previously published materials will be removed next month.
"Provisional carousels" still available
In July 2022, LinkedIn introduced the option of sharing carousel posts, responding to the needs of users who had previously published "provisional carousels" - PDF files consisting of separate slides. According to information on socialmediatoday.com, this option is still active.
Profile videos debuted on LinkedIn in 2021, but as sources indicate, they did not achieve as much popularity as expected. However, clickable links in images, presented in August 2022, brought a new breath of freshness and added a completely different dimension of interaction on the platform.
Secure content on LinkedIn
Users whose content is soon to be removed can contact LinkedIn. It is enough to establish contact with the customer service department of the service and request a copy of the content before their planned removal.
In the face of these dynamic changes, LinkedIn remains a creative and innovative environment. And despite the announced restrictions, users have the opportunity to use the remaining available tools to build their online presence. New perspectives are opening up, and the dynamics of social interaction on the platform remain its key element.
