The annual CES fair in Las Vegas is a real feast of technology, during which all the major companies in the industry roll out their biggest guns and present their best ideas to the world. And although this year's edition of the conference - without major surprises - was dominated by creative AI-based solutions, there were also many other innovations. Below we have collected the most interesting of them.
LG – the world's first transparent OLED TV
One of the hottest premieres during CES 2024 was undoubtedly the world's first almost fully transparent TV LG Signature OLED T. The device is equipped with a 77-inch OLED screen with 4K resolution, which in sleep mode actually resembles a pane of glass.
The amazing effect is complemented by wireless image and sound transmission technology, which makes the TV "harmoniously blend in with the surroundings". LG Signature OLED T won five CES 2024 Innovation Awards, including the Best of Innovation award.
– LG's transparent OLED screen gives customers greater freedom in shaping their living spaces. This innovation creates new possibilities, heralding an exciting future for the television industry – argued during CES Hyoung-sei Park, president of LG Home Entertainment Company.
Samsung – wireless 8K projector, foldable smartphone, AI vision
Another Korean giant - Samsung - also presented many of its novelties during CES 2024. The company showed, among others, its version of a transparent TV called Samsung Micro LED, and a projector The Premiere 8K, which is the first in the world to support wireless image transmission in 8K resolution.
During CES, Samsung also introduced the smartphone In&Out Flip, which allows the device's screen to be folded inside and outside, as well as its overall vision for AI. According to the Korean giant's concept, artificial intelligence is to play the role of a link within the entire ecosystem of home devices - from smartphones, through household appliances (refrigerator, washing machine, vacuum cleaner), to a daily life assistant in the form of a spherical robot Ballie.
MSI Claw – pocket console of the future
The MSI Claw is another exciting premiere at the CES trade show. The device is the first pocket gaming console equipped with Intel Core Ultra processors with integrated Intel Arc graphics, promising the prospect of dynamic image resolution enhancement in real time.
Claw also has an incredibly clear 1080p display with a wide color range and high refresh rate, as well as 16 GB of RAM and an SSD with a capacity of up to 1 TB. All enclosed in an extremely compact case makes the MSI Claw one of the most powerful pocket consoles on the market.
BMW AR Ride Concept – augmented reality behind the wheel
The CES also featured modern solutions in the field of automotive. An interesting concept was certainly the augmented reality glasses Xreal Air 2 from BMW. The concept of the device is simple: the glasses integrate with the driver's smartphone connected to the car, to provide him with real-time information about hazards, changes in traffic flow and other road events. The first tests of the glasses also indicate that the experience from Xreal Air 2 is surprisingly natural and non-invasive. Could this be the future of driving?
The future under the sign of AI
As we mentioned at the beginning, AI-based applications dominated this year's CES trade show. However, most of these ideas are still prototypes far from mass-market introduction. That's why we decided to treat them collectively and place them in one extensive product category.
Among them, our attention was drawn to, among others, the application from Cappella, which uses AI and machine learning to translate the cry of infants into specific messages for parents, as well as a smart mattress that monitors parameters during sleep and helps improve its quality.
Mirrors turned out to be a separate category. The first of them - Anura MagicMirror - analyzes the blood flow in the face and helps determine the risk of heart disease and the level of skin aging, while Baracoda BMind - analyzes the user's mood based on facial expressions and offers recommendations for mental health.
