Intel's CEO, Pat Gelsinger, believes that Articul8's deep understanding of the AI field and corporate-level genAI implementations will provide tangible business benefits to Intel and its customers and partners.
Articul8 – Intel tries to fill the gap in the genAI market
Intel is seriously entering the game for dominance in the generative artificial intelligence market. At the beginning of January 2024, the American manufacturer of processors and integrated circuits announced the creation of a new company called Articul8 AI. The company was spun off from Intel's structure and is to operate based on its proprietary technologies, offering fully secure and personalized generative AI solutions for businesses.
Intel did not disclose the financial details of the company's formation. It is only known that Articul8 will remain strategically linked to the giant's operations, and its main investment partner and shareholder is the DigitalBridge Ventures fund. The newly formed entity will be chaired by Arun Subramaniyan, former Vice President and General Manager of Intel Data Center Solutions.
– We are trying to fill the biggest, in our opinion, gap that currently exists in the generative artificial intelligence market. We want to prove that it is possible to go beyond the "proof of concept" phase and implement the solution in a sustainable and safe way – Subramaniyan said in an interview with Reuters.
Marc Ganzi, CEO of DigitalBridge, also spoke about the need to fill the gap in the generative AI market:
– Every global enterprise is currently facing the challenge of integrating genAI with their internal company processes. Articul8 has built a scalable and easy-to-implement generative AI platform that is already helping companies increase the value of their resources. We believe that genAI will be a key force driving the digital infrastructure of the future – said Ganzi.
Intel tries to keep up with the competition
The above declarations are of course only part of the reasons behind the creation of Articul8. An equally important factor is Intel's fear of falling behind the competition, especially Nvidia, whose advanced graphics processors supporting AI dominated the market in 2023 and led to a 239% increase in the company's stock.
However, Intel wants to outpace not only Nvidia, but also compete with companies such as Google, OpenAI or Anthropic in the field of generative artificial intelligence software.
– Thanks to a deep understanding of the AI field and corporate-level genAI implementations, Articul8 is well on its way to providing tangible business benefits to Intel and our broad ecosystem of customers and partners – summarized Pat Gelsinger, CEO of Intel.
